The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve is situated near the south end of the Cape Peninsula and stretches from Schuster's Bay at the Atlantic coast to Smitswinkel Bay at the 'False Bay'. In the national park there is the world-known 'Cape of Good Hope' and further southern and higher the 'Cape Point' which was used from the early mariners as a turning point. The last meters to the 'Cape Point Peak' you can use the stairs of hewn stone or the rack railway 'The flying Dutchman'. On the outlook platform in 214 m height you enjoy a wonderful view. |

In the Nature Reserve there are numerous hiking trails, which lead you in contact to the unique Fynboslandcsape with more than 1100 plant species, under that 25 different Proteas, 139 Erica- and 52 orchid kinds. Bird friends discover about 240 different bird kinds from eagles up to the gold breast nectar bird. There can be observed also reptiles, zebras, roe deer goats as well as antelopes, bunches and baboons that live on the seafoods in the case of ebb. Anglers can indulge in their hobby here at the best fishing places from Cape Town and surfboarders and swimmers find their ideal beach at 40 km coast length. In addition, the park prepares even further attractions, as for example the highest cliff of South Africa with 249 m, the monuments of 'Dias Cross' and 'Vasco da Gama', the 'block house' - a lighthouse built in 1857 that stopped his company in 1911 since it was covered in fog clouds too often and the 'Shipwreck Trail', a 90 minute walk at the beach past at two large ship wreck's. |
