The Chapman's Peak Drive is one of the most beautiful coastal roads of the world.

It is named after the English sailor John Chapman who went here in 1607 on land in order to explore Hout Bay and joins your vacation place Noordhoek with Hout Bay. The spectacular street was built from Italian prisoners of war (1915 - 1922) and completely renewed in December 2003.
The Chapman's Peak Drive is 10 km long and offers breath-taking outlooks on the 8 km long beach of Noordhoek, the surfing-beach 'The Hoek', the bay of Hout Bay, high spray fountains of the sea and up to 600 m cliffs high, declining steeply.

The road begins in Noordhoek on sea level, climbs then up to the Chapman's Point, and winds then down to the bay of Hout Bay.

Along the route numerous park and picnic fields are created. In particular a picnic for the sunset is simply marvellous.

Sport events like 'Cape Argus Cycle Tour' or the 'Two Oceans Marathon' passes also the Chapman's Peak Drive.
