Hout Bay is a fisherman and tourist place. It's situated near the bay. The panorama is determined by the peak Chapman's Peak in the east, the 653 m high Karbonkelberg and the Sentinel that is not missing due to its impressing form on any photo.

The enchanting and also strategic situation from Hout Bay led already in the 17th century to its development and utilization.  
Beside the panorama Hout Bay offers some more attractions:

'Mariner's Wharf' is a complex from restaurants, small souvenir businesses and a fish market. The seafoods are legendary. Furthermore there is next to excellent Lobster smoked 'Snoek' which is prepared to an old prescription.
In the harbour you can observe the fishermen at their arrival with their catch that is delivered to the fish factories in Hout Bay. Small catches are sold directly on site.

In the harbour the boat tours to "Duiker Island", a 1500 square meters big island with more than 5000 seals, lay down. Sometimes one sees whales, dolphins and sharks on the ride.  
The 'World of Birds' with about 3000 birds is the second-biggest bird park worldwide. The birds are placed in accessible aviaries and are shown so in their natural environment.

In the "Pearl Factory" you can search own oysters which are finally opened for you. .
