Muizenberg lost some of the charm of the former artist village.
But many historical buildings are just renovated. In the railway station numerous new restaurants have settled.
The 32 kilometers long sandy beach with a waterpark is the main attraction from Muizenberg. Since it declines low and has moderate waves, it is especially ideal for families with small children and for surf- and kitebeginners.
The colored wood bathing-cottages are an eye appeal. Because Muizenberg is situated near the Indian Ocean, the water temperatures are considerably higher than in the Atlantic Ocean.

At the southern exit you can visit 'Rhodes Cottage', the holidayhouse from Cecil Rhodes.

The 'Zandvlei Nature Reserve' borders on the northern edge of Muizenberg. The lagoon is interesting for watersport and for birdwatching. About 130 kinds were counted here. South Africans use this field also for their Sunday excursion.

Northeast of Muizenberg the 'Rondevlei Nature Reserve' is situated, that is known for the great variety of birds and for the resident hippopotami. The Nature Reserve is one of the most important moist biotopes of the Cape Area with his coast dunes and the beach-Fynbos-vegetation. About 230 bird kinds are count from six hidden observation places. Boat trips to the hippopotami are offered.
