The City Hall was built in 1905 as a large Edwardian building in Cape Town city centre. The marble façade combines Italian renaissance features with the English colonial style. The building houses the town library and Cape Town's main concert hall. The City Hall overlooks the Grand Parade. In former days, military parades often took place on the Grand Parade. Nowadays, street markets are held twice a week where vendors sell new and used clothing. At other times the parade is a huge parking lot. |
