The touristic town Hermanus, situated approx. 130 km southeast of Cape Town at the Walker Bay, is famous as the best land based place to spot whales. Between June and November is the best time to see the up to 18m mammals, because they stay in the bay in order to bring their babies to the world. You'll get the best observation possibilities along the beautiful promenade at the rocky coast. Sometimes the whales approach 5 m to 10 m to the coast. |

| We recommend to drive through the mountains to Hermanus and to return along the beautiful coast street at the False Bay (R44) - the Clarence Drive. |
