Montagu is situated in the very fertile valley at the junction of Keisie and Kingna River on the fringe of the Lange Mountains, between the Breede-River-Valley and the Little-Karoo.

On the way to Montagu you'll enjoy the Du Toitskloof Pass, the wineries of Worcester and Robertson and finally the Cogman's-Ravine.
You can explore the town center of Montagu by foot. The most beautiful houses are in the Bath Street, includig the Joubert House, the oldest building and part of a museum.

Montagu offers excellent hiking routes of different duration and difficulty as for example the Bloupunt Trail (15,6 km of cylindrical hiking way through varied mountain landscape) or the Cogman's Kloof Trail (12,1 km of cylindrical hiking way) For a congenial day excursion particularly the Lover's walk is recommended. A walk through the beautiful gorge of the Keisie River leads you to the main attraction of Montagu: the hot mineral springs.
