After 120 kilometers on the R27 from Cape Town in northern direction you arrive at the West Coast National Park.

The National Park is situated directly to the sea and was founded in the year 1985 to protect the coastal region and the lagoon. He encloses approx. 32.000 hectares and reaches from small fisherman place Yzerfontein up to Langebaan.

The lagoon is well known among birdwatchers as one of the bigest biotopes of the world. 250 different bird species, 5000 Flamingos and colonies of up to 200.000 sea birds can be enjoyed. Next to that you find also many reptiles and smaller mammals in the park like antelopes, goats, kudus, zebras, gnus and jumping-goats.
But also the flora is worth a visit.
The private Postberg Nature Reserve, that is a part of the Park, opens only during spring. The great number of wild flowers in full blossom splendor, but also a landscape ist remarkable.

Langebaan offers numerous possibilities for eating and is an excellent place for all kinds of water sport (water ski, fishing, snorkeling, jet ski, surfing and so on).
