Franschhoek is a beautifully situated, picturesque place with French Flair that was set up in 1688 of the Huguenots. These became in the 17th century pursues because of their belief and fled to South Africa. Next to their knowledge of the wine they brought some French grapevines into the country.
 
Some names of the vineries show the past, as for example: La Provence, La Motte, Haute Provence, La Couronne and L'Ormarins.
Franschhoek is a prosperous place thanks to the many surrounding wine farms. And it it famous for a large amount of prize-winning restaurants, which are visited from connoisseurs from the whole world.

Next to the wonderful 'Franschhoek Wine route' on which above 20 wine farms can be visited, you'll enjoy the museum place of the Huguenots and the spectacular 'Franschhoek Pass'.
